Amy Leone, MS, MA, LMHC

Amy Leone, MS, MA, LMHC is an independent consultant, licensed mental health counselor, Certified Yoga Teacher, and Recovery Coach Supervisor based in the Greater Milford area. Amy has been a mental health counselor since 2000. She is the owner of Community Impact Inc. as well as the Founder and Chair of the Juvenile Advocacy Group (JAG) multiple community coalition, Adjunct Professor at Framingham State University- Graduate School. She is a founding partner with the Former Milford Police Chief working in the Greater Milford Area on the current opioid epidemic, and founder of the Regional Substance Navigation Program helping those individuals and loved ones who are struggling with the disease of addiction. Her newest program opened in October 2020 to help Chris Corner Recovery Resource Center in Milford. Her mission is to not just support those on their recovery path but to help lay the foundation for all those affected by the disease of addiction with a life of happiness after addiction.

Amy’s work as a mental health counselor and her many humanitarian affiliations and endeavors on behalf of outreach services, substance abuse programs, and health care issues. These duties and accomplishments combined with her educational training in mental health and criminal justice make her an exceptional resource in the field of individual and community prevention.

Samantha Frers, MA, LMHC, Expressive Arts Therapist

Samantha Frers is a graduate of Lesley University, where she earned her B.S. in Expressive Arts Therapy with a minor in music. She then went on to complete her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy at Lesley University. During her masters program, Samantha interned at the Home for Little Wanderers’ Longview Farm Campus, a residential school working with children struggling with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, as well as at the Charles River Center Day Program for adults with Developmental Disabilities. During her undergraduate program, Samantha interned with Orchard Cove Assisted Living Unit, and the Jimmy Fund Outpatient Clinic. Samantha has additional work experience with children on the Autism Spectrum and related diagnoses through Aspire Summer Program, where she assisted the campers in achieving therapeutic goals related to social skills and social thinking. 

Following graduation, Samantha was hired at Community Impact and has been with us for six years. Samantha has certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Animal Assisted Therapy, while also currently undergoing a certificate program in Animal Assisted Psychotherapy. Samantha uses a variety of interventions in her work with her clients including art, music, writing, sand tray, play, etc.

Sarah Carpenter, MS, LMHC

Sarah Carpenter earned her Masters of Science degree in mental health counseling at UMass Boston in May, 2017. She previously earned her BA in Psychology with a minor in Deaf Studies at The University of New Hampshire in 2013. Sarah began as an intern at Community Impact in May, 2016, and is now a full-time individual therapist in our office. Sarah mainly specializing in eating disorders and substance abuse. Sarah is well connected to local primary care physicians, dieticians, and treatment programs that also specialize in eating disorders. She worked for four years at Walden Behavioral Care in their residential unit treating eating disorders in adolescents and adults. Sarah completed two undergraduate internships at Medway House Family Shelter and Krempel’s Center in Portsmouth, NH, a day program for individuals with a traumatic brain injury.

Michael Spellman, MA, LMHC

Michael Spellman earned a graduate degree from the Framingham State University Counseling Psychology program in 2017. He previously earned his Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in Education at The University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2013. Michael currently has a diverse caseload with a range of ages and mental health needs, however, his specialty is adolescents/emerging adults. He has experience working in a multitude of mental health settings throughout his career including residential programs (STARR/Group Home), Community Based Acute Treatment programs (ICBAT/CBAT), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), a therapeutic school, and Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES).

Lisa Trusas, Recovery Coach

Lisa Trusas grew up in Upton and now lives in Millville. She has a true passion for helping people. As a 911 dispatcher for over 20 years, she knows all about the curve balls life can throw at you and the stigma behind substance misuse and mental health disorders. Due to personal experience in her own family, Lisa is able to display empathy to loved ones who are impacted daily by someone struggling with substance abuse, as well as those who find themselves in the grips of addiction.  She completed the Recovery Coach Academy in 2017. Her patience, compassion, and strength keep her motivated to help any way she can.

Ciara Maguire, MA, LMHC

Ciara earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, and a Graduate Certificate in Crisis Response and Behavioral Health. Ciara has considerable experience working with first-responder populations, as a CISM peer, a co-response clinician, and as an individual therapist. As a retired police officer, Ciara understands the barriers that make it difficult to seek therapy, and offers clients a confidential, accepting, and straightforward environment. In addition to first responders, Ciara works with individuals seeking to overcome trauma, create boundaries, expand communication skills, and enhance their overall wellbeing.

Mary McLaughlin Mathon, MA, MS, LMHC

Mary received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State University in 2019. Previously, she earned a Master of Science degree in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Vermont, and a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Marquette University. Mary started her counseling experience in 2018 at Wayside Family Support Network with a focus on family counseling. She has a variety of experience working with teens, families, adults, and seniors facing the challenges of anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Mary uses an empathic, personalized approach to therapy and mental health drawing on approaches that best fit the client’s needs and priorities, including mindfulness, cognitive-behavior, and solution-focused therapy. She believes everyone has the answers within themselves, they just need some guidance in unlocking them.

Renee Masiello, MSW

Renee is a graduate of Framingham State University with a BS in Sociology and graduated with her MS in social work at Regis College. She has worked as a police dispatcher full-time and part-time for the last two decades. As a Mom of four young kids, Renee has a passion for helping people see the best in life and is looking forward to continuing that work. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and exploring new places.

Nicole Shapiro, BS, CEIS, MSW Intern

Nicole is a graduate of Worcester State University with a BS in Communication Disorders and currently attending Springfield College to obtain her MS in Social Work. Nicole has spent the last 15 years in the field of Early Intervention as a developmental specialist. She has a special interest in the areas of autism spectrum disorder, sensory integration, and behavioral intervention. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family and incorporating boxing into her self-care routine.

Jennifer Sherman, MA

Jennifer earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State in 2019, and previously earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology.  Jennifer started her counseling experience in 2018 at Spectrum Health Systems and focused on helping individuals with their challenges in overcoming substance use disorders.  She has experience working with adults facing challenges of depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.  Jennifer uses an empathetic, person-centered approach to therapy and draws upon the client’s strengths in order to meet their goals, and also utilizes aspects of cognitive and solution-focused therapy.

Ashley Hemstreet, MA

Ashley Hemstreet began as an intern at Community Impact, and graduated with her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State University. She previously earned a BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. Ashley has experience working with children and families, incarcerated individuals, and adults experiencing mental health and/or substance abuse concerns. She is looking forward to growing as a mental health professional.

Jennifer Ketcham, MA

Jen graduated with her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State University. Before graduation, Jen interned at Community Impact and as an outpatient therapist at local public schools. She is also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Jen has vast experience working with clients of all ages facing challenges of trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorder. She draws on multiple modalities such as Cognitive-Behavior, Solution-Focused, and supportive therapy to best fit each client's needs. She strives to make clients feel comfortable while they work together to achieve mental health goals.

Stacy Geoghegan, BA, MA Intern

Stacy Geoghegan is an intern with Community Impact and is currently studying to earn a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State University where she completed her BA in Psychology in 2009. Her background includes ABA therapy and working with different developmental, social, and academic challenges with children ranging in age from infancy to adolescence. She enjoys spending her spare time with her two children and pets. She is looking forward to growing as a mental health professional.

Meredith Desrochers, Recovery Coach Intern

Meredith was hired as a Recovery Coach Intern at Chris's Corner, as she works towards completing her training to receive her Certified Addictions Recovery Coach certification from the state of Massachusetts.  After working for many years in Advertising, Meredith has decided to pursue a new career in Substance Use Disorders. Her dad, Jack, lost his life to suicide when she was in college, and the loss inspired her career change into the field of mental health. Meredith's work is also fueled by her own recovery, and she hopes to help individuals embrace the many benefits of a sober lifestyle.  Meredith is also a passionate advocate for changing the stigma that surrounds mental health disorders and addiction, and looks forward to getting involved as an ambassador in the recovery movement. Meredith lives in Hopkinton with her husband and three children.

Jaci Cavaioli, MS

Jaci has worked as a coordinator for the Massachusetts Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative (MOAPC), providing opioid prevention, education, awareness, and support throughout Worcester’s North County. As a school-based clinician, she has partnered with community supports such as DCF, DMH, and school departments to enhance the overall functioning of children and families struggling with substance use and other behavioral issues.

Katelynne Mackie, MSW, LCSW

Katelynne, also goes by Katie, is a graduate of Mitchell College with a BS in psychology and minor in human development, family studies. She then graduated with her MS in social work from Springfield College. Katie has experience working with infants/toddler, adolescents/teens and adults with either a mental health diagnosis, substance use disorder, intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum diagnosis. She is currently employed working in Early Intervention as a developmental specialist. She has a special interest in the areas of mental health, autism spectrum disorder and emotional regulation. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family and being involved with anything related to sports and fitness.

Walter St. Dennis III, MSW, LCSW

Walter graduated with a Masters in Social work from Simmons University. Walter deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, and Afghanistan as a soldier in the MA Army National Guard, and has been certified as a Master Resilience Trainer (level 1). In 2019, he returned to college and earned his BA in Social-Psychology from UMASS Boston in 2021. He is a certified anger management specialist and group peer support facilitator. Walter is a member of the American Legion, NASW-MA, and National Anger Management Association.

Mairead Nee, MSW, LCSW

Mairead is a recent graduate of Salve Regina University with a BA in psychology and is currently an intern studying to earn her Master's degree in Social Work from Simmons University. After gaining professional experience in the criminal justice setting, Mairead is looking forward to working with a community-based agency. She hopes to foster supportive relationships with her clients that promote empowerment and growth. In her free time, Mairead enjoys spending time with her friends and family, dancing, and being by the ocean. She is excited about the opportunity to grow as a social worker with Community Impact!

 

Amber Hebb, MA

Amber is a 2021 graduate of Framingham State University with a BA in psychology and a minor in Criminology. She graduated in 2024 with her master's degree in Counseling Psychology and is studying for her licensed mental health clinician exam. She has worked for the past four years as an EMT. Amber started at Community Impact as an intern and was hired after graduation. Her therapy style revolves around CBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed counseling.

Kaplan Hasanoglu, PhD

Kaplan is in the process of earning his Masters of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University, with an expected graduation date of May 2025.  He earned a PhD in philosophy from the University of Iowa in 2012. Kaplan takes a philosophically informed existentialist approach to counseling that incorporates various aspects of cognitive-behavioral, relational-cultural, and person-centered therapy.  The aim is to unlock the client’s ability to meet their treatment goals through connecting them with their authentic selves.

Michelle Bishop, LICSW

Michelle has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University and her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Bridgewater State University. Michelle has experience working with incarcerated individuals throughout the Massachusetts Department of Corrections in clinical settings. Since February 2022, she has been serving full-time as the Mental Health/Co Response Clinician for a local police department. In this role, she collaborates closely with law enforcement and several local agencies to provide crisis intervention and support to community members. She contributes to the South Shore Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) team to support training initiatives for local departments and agencies. Additionally, Michelle is a member of Metropolitan Law Enforcement Crisis Negotiation Team (Metro-LEC CNT) responsible for urgent response to critical incidents. Michelle has special interest and future career goals in areas of mental health to include trauma therapy for first responders and women struggling with postpartum depression.

Jill is Community Impact's administrative manager. She brings extensive medical administration expertise, including several years of medical office management.
